The dress young Kylee has on, was bought at a Thrift Store. For the price of just $3 dollars, you could have owned the dress. It states “Take to cleaners”, not me. I took it upon myself to machine wash in gentle cycle and not let it go to full spin.
I came up with this way of recycling, the dress was expressive enough. I added black and red bows and little rhinestone on the bow. I knew it needed one more of something to it. I decided to go with a Red Flower to add on the center of the dress.
The hat to this costume is just a hat Kylee’s mom bought to me, and an excellent choice. I didn’t know, prior to the day of Halloween that she was bringing the hat over. I always say, “You can’t go wrong with tulle”. The tulle added to the hat was left over from prior a costume. I wrapped it around the hat. It was long enough, then added a little rhinestone on front of the hat and their you have it, a recycle Halloween costume.
On to the black boots, just added red ribbons on to them. I sewed it lightly to the boots, it was a material type boot.
A costume is not necessarily a character. You can look in your closet and have something to wear and just add-on something to make it stand out. With the head-piece, you don’t need a hat. In total, I spend $5 dollars in material. The rest added to this costume, the boots and hat mommy already had in the house. So this costume cost me $8 dollars. Her mommy stated to me, she had a hard time taking it off her. As long as the child likes it, is all that matters.
